RONNIE LAND - was born and grew up
in Brooklyn, New York.
In the late 70's - Ronnie moved here to
The San Francisco Bay Area.
Ronnie started singing at the age of 11,
after landing the role as “Tony”- with the schools musical play “West Side Story”.
Ronnie was influenced by seeing bands like UFO, Scorpions, Journey and Bryan Adams.
Ronnie's first Professional band was with a band out of Hayward, CA – “Ember”- Featuring - Ray Garcia with his flying V Guitar and Benny Martinez on his Rickenbacher Bass, and Drummer Russell Steele With his Rockin Chops Of Led Zeplins -John Bonham.
A year later – Ronnie felt it was time to move on due to conflicts within the band.
Shortly after, teaming up with
Guitarist Nick Ferreira from Alameda, CA -
Ronnie and Nick decided to team up with
a band from San Francisco –
“Hammer Head”, Who played several shows at The Mabuhay Gardens, the on Broadway, And the Key Stones.
Again due to conflicts with band members outside of the band –The band defuncted.
Soon after that, Ronnie teamed up once again with Guitarist Nick Ferreira –
To form the band Night Stalker.
Night Stalker, who played throughout -
Northern California,
created a buzz and the attention from a Midwest magazine called Midwest Militia,
who raved about Night Stalkers talent.
Shortly after the magazine was out in circulation...
Night Stalker was contacted by Los Angeles – Independent Record Company called Renaissance Records,
To be on their 1985 Compilation L.P. -“California’s Best Metal”,
Which later was listed in British’s Popular Karrang Magazine as #4 on the European Charts.
A year later after several band lineup changes, and creativity issues,
Ronnie was voted out of the band.
Ronnie remembers that day clearly,
Being fired from your own band, yes, I was Pisst off -
but then again it was time to move on…
That’s when Ronnie decided to go onto a Solo Career….
Ronnie also mentioned, being fired from his own band became a blessing in disguise !!
Which really launched him into other areas of music, such as learning to program drums, broaden his Guitar and Bass playing as well as honing in on his Recording engineering, Producing and Marketing skills.
After recording his first Solo CD –Ronnie Land ~ Reachin Out - Ronnie recalls it was the first time I had to really think outside the box…
I had to find any distribution that I could as an Independent Solo Artist,
And that big break couldn’t be any better!
